How to Really Lose Fat with
Cardio
There is a lot of debate over
which type of cardio works better HIIT or steady cardio. Let me
break down what each one is those of you who don't
know.
Steady cardio is just going at
a steady place like jogging for a half hour straight. Or by
going on a treadmill you end up doing this. There is nothing
wrong with doing steady cardio especially if you are out of
shape and need to get athletic before attempting something more
advanced.
The more advanced approach
with cardio is doing HIIT which stands for High Intensity
Internal Training. This is more like doing sets of cardio. What
you do is you start off warming up just like you normally do.
Then speed up to your all out effort for 30 seconds and try
hard to the point when you are almost out of breath. Go back to
a steady pace for a minute or 2. That is 1 interval.
HIIT is known to be the more
popular form of cardio for a number of reasons
like...
- It is more
fun.
- It speeds up your
metabolism for a longer time.
- It burns more pure fat
than steady cardio.
- The challenge is
greater.
- It takes less
time.
But you should always start
off slow and do steady cardio before moving on to HIIT because
it can really be hard to recover properly when you are also
doing an abs workout about 3 days a week.
If you have never done HIIT
you should make sure you are ready by just doing steady cardio
on the days in between your abs workouts for about 20 minutes.
Or you can do them right after your workouts and keep your days
off.
Now when you want to shed
pounds of fat this is a great approach since you do not have to
do it for that long. As a beginner you can start doing 4
intervals for a workout and it lasts about 20
minutes.
Burning fat is about burning
more calories and HIIT does that better. Just try not to
overwork yourself at first and do no more than 6 intervals per
workout.
But first start off doing
steady cardio by jogging for 20-30 minutes. If you are really
out of shape then do 2 30-minute walking sessions every day.
This also helps burn fat even though it is not that
hard.
