The Importance of Nutrition for Six Pack Abs

If you want to get six pack abs then there is no way around it. You need to eat properly to be able to see your six pack. Of course there are some people who work out so much that they can eat nothing but junk food and still be leaner than people who eat right.

But nobody has that much time. There is no point in doing all those ab exercises if you will not eat clean foods that promote fat loss. If you don't eat right then the fat covering your stomach is just going to hide any muscle you have been working on.

Fat Burning Foods

The best foods you can eat are natural foods that are clean and unprocessed. The best kinds are generally lean meats, fruits, nuts, beans, and vegetables.

Do not worry too much about carbs. The only time you should eat starchy carbs that are calorie dense is after a work out so your muscle can recover well.

Some of the best starchy carbs include oatmeal, sweet potatoes, brown rice, and quinoa which is a special kind of rice. Having a serving or two after a work out will really help you recover well until your next abs workout.

The kinds of carbs you can eat with every meal are fruits and vegetables. These do not make you fat but still provide your body with plenty of carbs, vitamins, and minerals. They are not calorie dense. Vegetables are known as having "negative calories" which means it takes the body more calories to burn than how many they have.

For fats focus on eating healthy fats. Do not go for low-fat foods at the grocery store. It does not matter if a granola bar is low-fat because it is still junk food. Some great sources of fats are olive oil, natural peanut butter, and beans.

Fiber is also important for heart health and your digestive system. Some great sources include beans, flaxseed, and of course fruits and vegetables.

Protein should also take up most of your diet. Lean meats such as chicken, turkey, salmon, and Canadian bacon are all great choices. You do not have to eat a gram of protein per pound. Instead just try and get as much as you can.

These kinds of foods will make your body learn to burn fat rather than store it. Do not believe common myths like eating fat will make you fat. Lack of exercise and proper nutrition make you fat. White carbs are easily stored in the body as fat if not burnt off right away.

You can have about 3-4 cheat meals a week. It is best to spread them around just in case you need to use some for plans to go out to eat. Do not overeat. Instead just have a small meal of whatever you want.

Aim to eat 5-6 small meals a day. If you find it inconvenient do not beat yourself up over it. Just take food with you to work or on the go.

Try to eat every 3 hours to keep your stomach small and your abs visible. This also helps curb your cravings for junk food and will keep you from getting hungry.

Do not worry about calories too much. Although it does help to know how much you need to eat to maintain your weight and lose fat. Just focus on natural foods like the kinds above and you will lose belly fat and build your six pack abs.
